Louth Town Council is committed to making its website accessible (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Non-accessible content
Parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- The search box at the top of each page does not have an label – we are trying to find out a way to correct this with the template Elementor we use.
- Colour contrast on the Cookie declaration flags up as a failure once you have accepted it.
- Many older agendas, minutes and documents are in PDF and are not accessible. PDFs which have been scanned prior to September 2020 did not have readable text content.
- There are failures on any forms with aria labels – we are trying to find out a way to correct this with the template Elementor we use.
- 3 web pages have an embedded Google map. The zoom button coding fails on the parsing test but as the maps are at the end of relevant webpages and deemed useful content. have kept on the page. Google maps also triggers additional content which when hovered over disappears, this fails the Hover / focus content.
- On the Councillors list pages, both the photo and the name of the photo is linked to their own page which is a failure of duplication the template we have used automatically links with the title and it is important to include the name of the Councillor along with their photo. There was a further ‘read more’ link which has been removed.
- Although we have changed most tables to that which passes accessibility, there is the Councillors attendance pdf – It May 2021 this will change to an accessible web page.
- Video which do not have subtitles, but are on Youtube so the subtitling service can be used to generate subtitles – This is related to WCAG 2.1A success criteria 1.2.2 (Captions (Pre recorded)) and 1.2.3 Audio Description or Media Alternative (Pre recorded).
- The written text on many pages is in the passive tense and not always straight-forward. Minutes to meetings are written in a particular format which does not score well on readability.
- Some graphics and document attachments have poor colour contrast
- Some images do not have the best alternative text and some may be duplicated.
