LOUTH'S CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCHED ON
On Thursday 24th November 2011 a huge group of adults and children gathered in Louth's Market Place to witness the Mayor of Louth, Councillor Brian Burnett switching on the town's Christmas Lights.  The Riverhead Silver Band accompanied children from local primary schools St. Michael's, Kidgate, Lacey Gardens and Eastfield Infants who sang Christmas songs and Santa mingled with the crowd.  Following the switch on Reverend Ian Partridge led the Christmas Crib Service down at the Fish Shambles where members of the St. James' Church Choir, accompanied by the Riverhead Silver Band sang traditional Christmas Carols.  Louth Town Council would like to thank everyone who took part in, helped out at or attended the event.  The evening was a great success and was the official start of Christmas for Louth.  Further Christmas events include:

Louth Lion's Big Christmas Craft Market which takes place on Sunday 4th December from 10am to 4pm

Late Night Shopping on Friday 9th and Friday 16th December where over 50 independent and national shops will open until 8pm, there will be a market with all your favourite stalls, as well as mulled wine, mince pies, roasted chestnuts, Christmas gifts and decorations, Santa's grotto will be open in the New Market Hall from 4pm to 6pm, there will be street entertainment, including music and dressed up characters and there will be many meal deals at Louth's eateries and restaurants.

Sunday Market organised by ELDC will take place on 18th December.
